First look at the NEW Tenaya Spa at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel

After a long day at Disneyland, sometimes you just have to treat yourself to the best way to relax – a day of spa.
And, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is ready to offer you the best spa trip because it’s NEW Tenaya Stone Spa opens to the complex! After the delays due to the closure of the resort, guests were finally able to book reservations at the spa prior to its grand opening today. We take you with us to see the new Tenaya stone spa.
The Tenaya Stone Spa is a great deal 6,000 square feet with eight treatment rooms, two massage rooms for couples, four manicure and pedicure chairs, a relaxation salon, changing rooms for men and women and a retail store.

Guests have a wide range of services to choose from, including even different massage services, three herbal body treatments, three different foot treatments and a full range of manicure and pedicure services. Access to the relaxation lounge and changing rooms is also part of the service you choose.

The Tenaya Stone Spa has been designed inspired by “the spirit of nature, the indigenous cultures of California and the iconic artisanal design of the hotel.” In fact, Tenaya means “dreaming” of the indigenous culture of the Yosemite Valley. Disney cultural representatives worked with several tribes to achieve the natural order of four throughout the spa, which is reflected in the circle behind the reception.

This means that you will find four main colors (white, red, black, yellow), four stones (white magnesite, red pumice, black obsidian, golden pyrite) and four native medicinal plants (sweet herb, sage, cedar, tobacco) to represent earth, air, water and fire. In addition, there are special signifiers located throughout the Tenaya Spa for the four directional points.

In contrast to the Grand Californian Hotel, in which the design encourages the eyes to look up and out, at the Tenaya Stone Spa they want guests to look down and in when they enter this wellness space. One way to try to achieve this is by using the floor of wooden life rings, which serve to land the guest when they enter the spa.

Tenaya Stone was formed millions of years ago and is part of the earth, and guests are encouraged to touch the stone to feel the sense of community and connection to the earth. Traditionally, the Tenaya Stone was a way to gather in ceremony and reflection.

The design of the four quadrants also seeks to balance themselves, socially, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

The services offered at Tenaya Stone Spa are currently available only available to Disneyland Resort hotel guests (Grand Californian Hotel, Disneyland Hotel and Pixar Pier Hotel) at this time, but will open to the public at some point in the future.

A full service lounge will not be available at the grand spa opening, but will be open soon.

The Tenaya Spa is a great addition to the Grand Californian. And it’s definitely worth a visit when you’re at the Disneyland Resort. Stay tuned to All Ears for more exciting Disney news soon.
