We head to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to see what’s new in the park this week.
Last week we saw new golden statues of the 50th anniversary, some fun meals in a reopened cafe and lots of new merchandise. There are only a couple of updates this week, so let’s check them out.
We will start with construction upgrades around the park.
Animal Kingdom Construction Update
We’ve seen lightning lanes go up at Disney World attractions and attractions and recently we saw a new one at Animal Kingdom.
Kilimanjaro Safaris it now officially has a Lightning Lane sign. The Lightning Lanes will be used once Genie + and Individual Attraction Selection begin at Disney World, which is supposed to take place this fall.
We also took a look at the construction of Animal Kingdom’s new KiteTails program, which will be released on October 1st.
The barges are inside the Discovery River Lagoon near Everest. They have small structures, which have been added often over the last few weeks. We’re excited to see them use it once the show starts.

Update of Animal Kingdom merchandise
When we weren’t there, there were no new items in the Animal Kingdom, but we saw that the African wild dog stuffed animals that are usually in Ziwani Traders were no longer there. Instead, we saw stuffed animals of some much more domestic animals.
They are flames! You can find them at Ziwani traders and Animal Kingdom. Nearby, you can also find Minnie stuffed animals in her Safari outfit.
Update of the crowds of the animal kingdom
Around the park, the levels of people were not too high. It looks like there’s a crowd dive ahead of the big rush that will come for Disney World’s 50th anniversary.
On the popular Pandora Passenger flight trip, the waiting time was fair 35 minutes when we passed by here.
Kali River Rapids had one Wait 10 minutes…
… and Dinosaur was also in 10 minutes.
That’s all for our short Animal Kingdom update this week. Follow DFB and we’ll let you know when we find new stuff at Disney World parks.
