Disney World is undergoing quite a few transformations and renovations right now to prepare for the 50th anniversary celebrations.
We’ve seen many attractions nearby for a short period of time to get some tweaks, the restaurants get a whole new look and menu, and some resorts have even received a new theme. So to help you plan your week at Disney, we are covering everything there is closed for renovations between September 17 and October 3, 2021.
Reforms of Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World Railroad
In Tomorrowland, Disney has been working hard to bring the new roller coaster, TRON: Lightcycle Run, in life. But construction is currently affecting the train surrounding the Magic Kingdom, meaning the Walt Disney World Railroad will remain close for another week.
It’s unclear when the train will run again in the future, but for now, customers can check out all the new 50th anniversary details that have been added to the Main Street train station area.

Confectionery on the main street
The Main Street Confectionery has also been closed for quite some time in Magic Kingdom, but according to Disney’s reform schedule, it won’t last much longer. The popular delicacy is will reopen on September 29th.
However, if you visit it before September 29, you can find many of the same delights in your temporary home at the Main Street Cinema.

Disney World Resort renovations
There will still be some closures that will affect Disney World Resort hotels as well next week, although some will close soon. At Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the rooms in the main tower will remain closed while Disney works to renovate them with a fresh Incredible-thematic look.
And, in the main lobby, the walls of the building will fall on Friday, October 1, as the reimagined restaurant, Steakhouse 71, will officially open. This new restaurant replaces the old restaurant The Wave … of American Flavors .
Some closures will also continue at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, where the coach port and main lobby area are closed at alternate times while Disney updates the customer arrival experience …
… and more, at Disney’s Old Key Resort, work will also continue in the lair and lobby. The Disney website states that the renovations in Old Key West will only last until the end of September, although an exact date has not yet been announced.
And that, for all the attractions, shops and resorts that will close this week. Of course, we’ll keep an eye on the latest closures and renovations that are taking place at Disney World, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars.
