Spotify’s next step in our path to net zero emissions – Spotify


Technology is all about interlocking systems that work together efficiently and we often think of repeating these systems to make them better. Climate change is one of the most important issues for the company Disrupt Older systems to deal with the effects of global warming. That’s why, in September 2021, Spotify joined Indexed roadmap Enterprise and UN Race to Zero, The first step in our more ambitious climate action journey.

The Exponential Roadmap Initiative has a network of selected innovative companies, scientists and NGOs that promise to rapidly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, educate and inspire others for their platforms and businesses, and engage with larger communities to move climate action forward.

Over the next few days, months, and years, we want to disrupt the way we work and control our emissions in a variety of ways:

  • Improving our workplace: We are redesigning, rebuilding, and continuing to redesign our offices with a focus on environmental efficiency, accessibility, and renewable solutions.
  • Green currents: One percent of our emissions are generated through streaming, downloading, and using the device’s battery. We are measuring this effect and aiming to produce less fuel consumption from different devices, while offsetting the remaining emissions.
  • Partnerships with suppliers who share our goals: The biggest source of our emissions is the products and services that we purchase. We are focusing on cooperating with like-minded suppliers to reduce emissions in this area.
