Another year, another world, and another world of music. What has influenced the soundtrack, lyrics and story behind this year’s “Burn It All Down” PVRIS?

For Worlds 2021, we are really based on this concept of “make / break”. It’s the global dilemma that makes the competition so exciting; For every stunning victory, there is a crushing loss. To create the future, you need to be willing to take a break from the past. We take to heart the stories we tell and the way we choose to tell them.

For the World Anthem song, we wanted to tell the story of a person who doesn’t think they have a “hero” in his stereotypical box that looks or acts or thinks examine precedents and is excluded or limited to examining what expectations are. And then follow our hero when they rise up against this society – he finds his strength and stops trying to adapt to the old system. Instead he prefers to “burn it all” and create a better world. Tell us a little more about the songs, music video visuals and how the artist was chosen.

As soon as the initial nugget of song concept was formed, PVRIS was a constant reference to our team. He was our musician when we explored both the song and the sonic landscape. In voice, we needed someone who could channel both mental weakness and explosive energy. He was the whole package. And that’s certainly meant, because when we arrived, he was very enthusiastic about the project. The energy was uninterrupted as soon as our team entered the studio. There was genuine passion for songs and stories. It was a perfect partnership.

Music video visuals are another, very important part of this whole coin. Again, it all started with “make / break”. I’ve seen the landscape of LOL Esport worldwide, and I’ve seen a game on the edge. Our first decade is over, and the second decade is waiting to be written. Some of our biggest names, retired and a new generation, were so hungry to make their mark. And I knew that we had to tell that visual story in the music video.

So we created the “Make / Break Society” – an underground society with secret clubhouses in different parts of the world. A metaphor for the true rising generation of our sport – they have shown how they are constantly being crushed, pushed, tested, tested, working to develop our game into a new era. All so that they can break the past and create their future.

What is the power of Worlds to bring gamers around the world together? Why is it so significant?
