This holiday season, Disney hopes you and your family will be thrilled with the upcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios animated film – “charm“.
The studio has shared a new trailer and poster this morning, along with some news from the cast.
Encanto tells the story of the Madrigals, an extraordinary family who live in a wonderful and enchanted place called Encanto. Every child has been blessed with a unique magical gift for them, each except Mirabel. But when the family home is threatened, Mirabel may be her only hope.
We are excited about Encato and not just because the film includes completely new songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton”, “Moana”).

Disney has also revealed a big new casting this morning: actor John Leguizamo (“Critical Thinking”, “Ice Age”) joins the voice cast as Bruno, Mirabel’s uncle.
“I was bombarded a lot to be asked to the party,” Leguizamo said. “Lin-Manuel [Miranda] he wrote me a rap, and I pulled ahead. Plus, this is such a beautiful story set in Colombia. It is the first of so many ways. The magic is enchanting, the comedy is so sharp and the world created is irresistible.
Bruno’s special talent is the ability to see the future. His honest predictions, often corroborated, are not always well received by the rest of the family, so he disappeared a long time ago, becoming the uncle of whom no one speaks.
“Bruno is so compelling because he’s the guy who never fits,” Leguizamo said. “He’s an outsider, but he also understands the world better because he’s always wanted to belong to it.”
The voice cast also includes Stephanie Beatriz as Mirabel; María Cecilia Botero as Mirabel’s grandmother, Alma aka Abuela; Angie Cepeda and Wilmer Valderrama as parents of Mirabel, Julieta and Agustín; and Diane Guererro and Jessica Darrow as sisters of Mirabel, Isabela and Luisa. Carolina Gaitán and Mauro Castillo also lend their voices as aunt and uncle of Mirabel, Pepa and Félix; and Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz and Ravi Cabot-Conyers as cousins of Mirabel, Dolores, Camilo and Antonio, respectively.
The film features new songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton”, “Moana”) and is directed by Byron Howard (“Zootopia”, “Tangled”) and Jared Bush (co-director “Zootopia”), co-director directed by Charise Castro Smith (writer “The Death of Eva Sofia Valdez”) and produced by Clark Spencer and Yvett Merino. Bush and Castro Smith are screenwriters for the film. The filmmakers were deeply inspired by their research trip to Colombia during the first development of “Encanto”, as well as their continued work with a group of expert consultants gathered throughout the production of the film.
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Charm” opens in theaters on November 24, 2021.
