It was a GREAT week at Walt Disney World, with so many changes for the 50th! While we can’t cover them all, here are some of the ones we’ve highlighted this week.
Revelation of the revealed contemporary lobby
Everything old is new again! The retro look has reappeared at Disney’s Contemporary Resort with the completion of the lobby refurbishment. It has a spectacular look, with all sorts of gestures in the history of this iconic complex and a modern mid-century look.
New CM tags
To celebrate the 50th anniversary celebration, members of the Walt Disney World cast receive special tags named “EARidescent.” They look fantastic and the cast members seem so happy to show them off.
Main Street became a little sweeter with the reopening of the confectionery. Just in time for all these great fifty delights. . . and the Skittles Fudge which is a tough pass! (Ask Len …)
New 50th Food
Speaking of sweets, there are so many new foods for the fifties around the Walt Disney World resorts. From sweets to so much chili (one of Walt Disney’s favorites), there’s sure to be something for everyone.
This week’s debut is KiteTails ’possibly damn show on Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The concept is elegant, with giant stars navigating the ancient watershed of the Rivers of Light, but the show has been plagued with challenges almost every day. We are waiting to see what happens with this program.
Each of the four parks enjoys a nightly glamor with Beacons of Magic. Cinderella Castle shines positively at night, the Tower of Terror receives night projections similar to those seen on vacation, and the Tree of Life gets a nocturnal glow similar to the old Tree of the Awakenings of Life. But by far the most impressive is the Earth spacecraft, which makes it shine positively. It is something that must be seen to be believed.
The wait is over: Harmonious has now debuted at EPCOT and while the reviews have been mixed, there is no denying that this is a massively brilliant, daring and striking show.
This week also marks the premiere of Magic Kingdom’s new nightly show, Enchantment. The crowd filled Main Street USA for their debut night and hopefully it will be popular for quite some time.
New annual cardholders
Want to add some bling to your portfolio? If you hold an annual Disney pass, you can now exchange your old cards for a new 50th anniversary design.
Remy’s Ratatouille adventure opens
It looks like a project that has been suspended forever, but Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is already open. This trip to the French pavilion at EPCOT requires obtaining a boarding group at 7 a.m. or 1 p.m., although on the first day, the slots for boarding groups remained available for quite some time after the 1 o’clock descent.
Return to Matsuriza
One of the EPCOT’s favorite entertainment groups has returned – Matsuriza, the taiko drummers of the Japanese pavilion – have now returned to perform. This high energy group really brings something special to World Showcase and the crowd is delighted to cheer them on again.
That’s all for this week. Which detail makes you most excited? Let us know in the comments.
