Genie + will premiere on October 19 and you already had a trip planned for this week. (You may be ready to say some Disney-like words when you’ve heard it.)
TouringPlans is good, but we can’t get magic data out of nowhere. The fact is that we will not really find out how you can do the best tour with or without Genie + from October 19th. We have assumptions about what will happen with the waiting times, how you can use (or avoid) Genie +, and so on. But we still can’t travel through time, so we can’t test them until the 19th. We will test, collect data and return it to you as soon as possible. But if you travel that week on the 19th … we can’t help you. Absolutely not. Finished article. . . I’m kidding.
While we can’t offer you absolute truths or the same predictions that we’re normally very sure about, we can give you some hypothesis-based advice. This week we will provide you with strategies for each park based on the expected levels of people for week 19. One strategy will mean you want to use Genie + and the other will guide you to make the most of Genie + if you want to buy it. In neither strategy will we assume or suggest that you pay for individual Lightning Lane access. If you decide to do so, just do it whenever you want and remove these attractions from other parts of the plan. The strategies here can give you a sense of direction and should be feasible most days of October 19-26, except maybe Saturday the 23rd. Crowds can be heavier that day, so you can follow the same strategy, but trim some of the attractions if you run out of time.
How can I go through Magic Kingdom without Genie +?
If you have early entry, you should spend an easy morning touring Fantasyland. Even without early entry, it’s probably still the place to go. Not more no try to let go of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train rope. This will be a mass of humanity and it is likely that if you are at the bottom of the rope, you will have one of the longest waits of the day. Instead, zigzag when they zag. Do the following first, in any order that looks good (or is well optimized in the app), ideally with Peter Pan’s Flight as soon as possible.
Per 10:45, complete the list above and check out the Lines app and see if the Seven Dwarfs mine train wait is reasonable. If so, go ahead and hit it while you’re in the area. Then, if you still have time before lunch, work at Mad Tea Party, Dumbo and Tomorrowland Speedway.
After lunch, spend time in Frontierland, Adventureland and Liberty Square. Save the mountains for later, but go ahead and try to do the following in any order that makes sense:
Make your way to Tomorrowland approximately 3 or 3:30 p.m. and experience what you would want there before dinner:
Have some dinner, then head to Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain before grabbing a spot for Enchantment. If you had to skip anything before the day (or want to reassemble a favorite), you should have time to jump on one or two lines before parking nearby, as the rest of the people only bail on departure .
Note: Depending on Genie + demand during the first week, queues may decrease slightly compared to our predictions. Follow the generic times suggested above, but if you start falling behind, you may have to skip an hour or two in the morning and afternoon.
How can I tour Magic Kingdom with Genie +?
Genie + will be like FastPass on steroids, in terms of how to take advantage of it. You will want to balance the return times of the attractions where it will really make a difference by getting as many return times as you can reasonably take advantage of. Since we still don’t know exactly what the availability or timeout savings will be, this plan is generated with the data we have from FastPass.
A 7 h, try to get a Genie + pass for Peter Pan’s Flight, ideally with a return time around 10am. This will free you from falling into Space Mountain rope in case you back up later. Around 9 h (2 hours after getting Peter Pan’s return flight time), try to get a Genie + pass for Jungle Cruise or Big Thunder Mountain for the next available time, ideally open between 11 and noon. After Space Mountain, head to Peter Pan and head to these Fantasyland attractions as you have time:
- Many adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Prince Charming Carousel Gift
- Under the sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic
Fly Peter Pan’s flight when the return time opens, then complete the Fantasyland attractions you haven’t experienced, along with the Enchanted Mansion.
When your next return hour opens (at Jungle Cruse or Big Thunder Mountain), tap it and look for another Genie + pass while you’re in line. You should probably prioritize Splash Mountain, if there are return times left for early and mid-afternoon. Have lunch and spend the afternoon doing other Frontierland or Adventureland attractions, such as:
- Enchanted Tiki room
- Country Bear Jamboree
- Jungle Cruise or Big Thunder Mountain (so you don’t get a Genie +)
- pirates of the caribbean
You should be eligible for another Genie + pass around 1 or 2 p.m., 2 hours after you get the Splash Mountain. Select the next available time for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin so you can use it in the late afternoon or early evening.
Finish Liberty Square, Frontierland and Adventureland until it’s time to return to Splash Mountain. This may include experimenting with:
- Tom Sawyer’s Island
- River boat in the Plaça de la Llibertat
- Room of presidents
By 3pm or 4pm, you should be available for another Genie + return time. Choose something you haven’t experienced yet, ideally in Tomorrowland or Fantasyland. Head to Tomorrowland to use Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Genie + return time and also experience the following:
- Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor
- Carousel of Progress
Around 6 p.m., dine and you should be eligible for a final Genie + return window if you can and want to use it. Make sure it doesn’t overlap with getting spaces for Enchantment if that’s a priority for you. After dinner, check out the Seven Dwarfs Mine train line. Wait times should go down and hopefully you have time to experience it early in the evening before heading to the Hub for Enchantment.
