As announced in a recent email to Disney Vacation Club members, Terri Schultz is moving from her role as senior vice president of Disney Vacation Club, Guided Adventures & Expeditions and Golden Oak to her role as senior vice president of business strategy for experiences. of Disney signatures (a segment that includes the aforementioned businesses, along with Disney Cruise Line). Bill Diercksen, a member of the Disney Vacation Club leadership team, takes on the role of senior vice president and general manager of Disney Vacation Club and Aulani.
With nearly a decade of Disney Vacation Club leadership experience on his more than 20-year Disney resume, Bill is no stranger to our magical community.
“I’m humiliated and honored to step into this role, and I know there are some really great shoes to meet after Terri,” Bill told me during a recent interview with Disney Files magazine. “I am very grateful to be able to do this with a strong understanding and respect for this team, the strategies of this business and the needs of our members. I will not have to spend the first 6-12 months learning the dynamics of the organization. That’s a big advantage. “
At first and often in our conversation, Bill talked about continuing to focus on the members ’experience.
“Obviously, we’ve dealt with a lot of unexpected challenges since last spring, but I can tell you that our commitment to members under Terri’s leadership never wavered,” Bill said. “We have focused on controlling what we can control, with the goal of making every decision to take the best possible care of members in unprecedented circumstances.”
Expressing optimism about the path being taken, Bill spoke of several new offerings prepared to enhance the members ’experience.
“I am particularly excited about the new experiences we are adding to our growing portfolio of exchange options, offering members more ways to use their vacation spots. From National Geographic Expeditions around the world to the first of the its kind Star Wars: The Galactic Starcruiser experience here at Walt Disney World Resort, are amazing options, and we have a lot of news that we are looking forward to announcing. ”
Since the cruise has long been the members ’favorite exchange option, the return of Disney Cruise Line trips has been one of the informative events that has given an extra spring to Bill’s passing.
“To say that our member services team has taken care of booking Disney Cruise Line reservations for members would be an understatement,” Bill said. “And there’s a great deal of excitement around two private trips next summer: an exclusive member-ship sailing aboard the Disney Wish that sold out in a matter of hours and the long-awaited Cruise Member aboard the Disney Wonder at Alaska, initially scheduled for 2020 “.
What about Membership Magic events on land?
“We get there,” Bill said. “It has encouraged us to watch the events of members large and small begin to return in recent months, from this summer’s advanced screenings of‘ Cruella ’and‘ Jungle Cruise ’at Disney Springs to the most recent previews of the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attraction at EPCOT and intimate “Delicious Disney” events at our park member lounge – we expect more Magic Members to be produced in the coming months, including seeing members among Walt Disney World guests Resort enjoy extra time in the parks during the 50th anniversary celebration and we are committed to coming back, evolving and introducing other events as soon as possible.
“When you combine all of these encouraging developments with the continued growth of Disney Vacation Club Resorts, including new accommodations in the works at The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and our recently announced tower at the Disneyland Hotel in California, there’s a M “It must be very exciting when I take on this role. And I really believe that the best is yet to come.”
When asked if there would be anything more he would like members to know when he takes on his new role, Bill replied, “I just deeply love this business and I will give everything I have every day to make sure the our members continue to be proud to be members “.
