It’s been another week at Disney World and this one was filled with holiday news.
True, it may only be mid-October, but Disney World is already watching it towards the holiday season! Let’s review the most unexpected news of the week.
Disney stage show Very Merriest After Hours
Earlier this week we came across a fast mention of a stage show for Disney Very Merriest After Hours party at Magic Kingdom hidden in an annual passport email, and later Disney confirmed the new program. Very happy memories of Mickey and Minnie will be the new stage show in front of Cinderella Castle for the holiday event with entrance.
This stage show will include nostalgic and new elements from past shows, including perhaps Clarabelle Cow? Disney Very Merriest ticket holders will also be able to grab one holiday parade, a fireworks show, i courtesy treats.

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ADORABLE The puppets of Merry Menagerie are back at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this year! If you’ve never seen them, these life-size winter animal puppets made of wood, garden, and other organic materials are a truly adorable addition to the Disney World holiday season.
In the past, we saw puppet animals included polar bears, wolves, penguins, reindeer, foxes and more! Probably these shouldn’t have stolen the heart as hard as they did, but they’re so cute, guys! You can find these puppets on Discovery Island during the Animal Kingdom holiday season.
Here is more information on the return of the Merry Menagerie.
Disney decided to go ahead and start decorating for the holiday season this week! Even though it’s not Halloween yet, we were surprised to find it holiday stars along Sunset Boulevard at Disney Studios in Hollywood.
These white and red stars hang out on the Sunset Boulevard streetlights every holiday season and suppose Disney decided to start the party earlier this year. We usually see Hollywood studios start celebrating holidays earlier, but that was a little earlier than we had seen in the past.
Check out photos of the new holiday decorations here.
From October 9 to December 4 (at least), guests will NOT be able to book overnight stays at Disney World. For local people, this is not great news. You will need to book two nights or more to secure a reservation at a Disney World hotel until LESS in early December.
We have confirmed with a cast member that this is an official policy and we will be alert to any changes. Please note that this does NOT affect DVC members who book points.
There are NO 1 night bookings until December at Disney World.
Boaters’ dining room
Disney’s this week Port Orleans Resort – Riverside we reopened and we were surprised to learn that the table service restaurant was there, Boaters’ dining room, will not being open until sometime in December.
Other restaurants are open at Port Orleans Riverside, such as the Riverside Mill Food Court and the River Roost Lounge, where we saw a performance by the returning Yehaa Bob Jackson! But guests will have to wait a bit for Boatwrights.
Read more about Disney’s plans for Boatwrights Dining Hall.
We find new Minnie-themed ears with Disney’s Contemporary Resort! This new headband has the monorail mounted between Mickey and Minnie’s ears. (They kind of seem to eat monorail, don’t they?)
We found them at Bayview Gifts at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for $ 39.99, so go there if you want a pair of your own. There is also a whole line of brave retro contemporary merchandise 50th anniversary we found it too!
See more photos of the monorail’s ears here!
