Get to Know Universal – Get to Know the Characters – TouringPlans.com Blog

What are Orlando theme parks more synonymous with than long lines and high prices? That’s right, disguised characters! Universal Orlando has its own cast of classic and modern characters for guests. In the first part of this series of articles, we’ll look at ways to get to know the characters at Universal Orlando; in the second part, we will try where to find specific characters in the parks.

What character meeting options are there in Universal?

SpongeBob characters appearing at Universal Studios Florida

Universal’s Superstar Parade at Universal Studios Florida is a high-energy parade featuring characters from Despicable Me, The Secret Life of Pets, Dora the Explorer, Spongebob SquarePants and more. The parade is held daily in the afternoon or early evening, depending on the operating hours. The parade begins next to the Horror Make-Up Show and passes through Hollywood, New York, turns in front of Transformers and returns to Horror Make-Up. If quantity is the quality you want, this is the fastest way to pump characters into your children’s eyes.

During the winter holidays, Universal also presents the Universal Holiday Parade with Macy’s Night. As its name suggests, the parade features balloons appearing at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, winter-themed floats, universal characters, and Santa Claus. Characters from Despicable Me, Shrek and Madagascar appear in the parade. The parade follows the same route as the Superstar Parade and performs once a night during the holidays.

The characters go out to the floats of the parade to take photos or perform on an elevated stage with dancers. The shows run at set times; check out the daily entertainment guide for schedules.

The Dreamworks Destination attraction, located on KidZone, is a character show very suitable for children and full of energy. Guests can dance along with their favorite characters from Trolls, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and more. The show runs at set times; check out the daily entertainment guide for schedules.

Meals of characters

As at Disney, Universal offers several options for eating characters.

Loews Royal Pacific Resort is the breakfast of Despicable Me in the Tahitian Room. Crane, Minions and Gorls meet guests and pose for photos while offering a buffet of pancakes, eggs, bacon, cereal, fruit and baked goods. Prices start at USD 35 for adults and USD 21 for children, taxes not included. Reservations can be made online.

The only Marvel character meal in Orlando is on Marvel of Island of Adventure superhero island at Cafe 4. The Marvel character dinner features Spider-man, Captain America, Wolverine, Storm and Rogue with a buffet dinner option. Menu items include salads, pasta, pizza, chicken, prawns and assorted desserts. Prices start at $ 50 for adults and $ 25 for children, taxes not included. Reservations can be made online.

During your holiday, Universal offers a Grinch buffet breakfast at the Circus McGurkis Cafe Stoopendous in Seuss Landing. The standard breakfast buffet offers more green eggs (of course). Prices start at USD 35 for adults and USD 21 for children, taxes not included.

At the time of publication, character feeding was suspended due to COVID-19.

Traditional meeting and greeting

Meet & Greets, the most popular and common way to meet the characters, offers visitors the chance to take photos, get an autograph, or give a quick hug. Sometimes these encounters and greetings are at fixed places, such as Shrek & Donkey outside of Shrek 4D, or you can find wandering land in the park, such as Scooby & The Gang.

Due to COVID-19, at this time, most meetings and greetings are now socially distant and no autographs are offered.
