Disney Shuffles Marvel movie date for 2022 and beyond

After a hot summer of Marvel in theaters, including the record Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, Disney has decided to rearrange the release dates of Marvel movies from 2022.

Part of the reason given is that with the pandemic, filmmakers are giving themselves time to properly finish films, some of which are still shooting. I’m all for it if it makes a better movie.

So get your calendars ready, because here are all the new dates you want to keep in mind:

By Sam Raimi Strange doctor in the multiverse of madness will now begin in the summer of 2022 on May 6 instead of opening on March 25, 2022. This film will also feature the Scarlet Witch, who was mocked at the end of the WandaVision series.

This pushes that of Taika Waititi Thor: Love and thunder from that date from May 6 to July 8, 2022. A summer appointment for the film that will also feature The Guardians of the Galaxy. He currently has no other major competition for this new date.

By Ryan Coogler Black Panther: Wakanda Forever it will move from that summer date it now occupies Thor until November 11, 2022. The film is scheduled to finish shooting before the holidays, so this gives post-production a little more leeway.

However, this move poses Black Panther 2 the week after Warner Bros. / DC The flash film. While both are superhero movies, I still see the Marvel movie reach number 1 at the box office.

The wonders, directed by Nia DaCosta, will move from November 11 to February 17, 2023. This sequel to Captain Marvel features the characters of Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau. A series is expected from Ms. Marvel sometime in 2022 at Disney + to introduce the character before the movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the only film in the launch program that remains on May 5, 2023. This was confirmed by director James Gunn on social media:

I have also published more Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 news yesterday.

This leads to that of Peyton Reed Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (the third in the series), which will go from the original date of February 2023 to the main summer date of July 28, 2023. Not much is known about this film yet, but it will feature Scott Lang and the Pym family / van Dyne.

With all these films to be released at future dates, no news has been given on how it will affect the Marvel series scheduled for Disney + between 2022 and 2023, as well. Mrs. Marvel series i Loki 2.

When the pandemic forced Black widow The new film of the summer of 2021 messed up the introduction of the character Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus). He was originally supposed to debut at the Black widow the final credits of the film and then appear more prominently in The hawk and the winter soldier series, but then the Disney + series ended up airing first.

I guess we’ll know that some dates in the series move before the end of the year. I’ll let you know when I hear about changes.

What upcoming Marvel movies are you excited to see? Let me know in the comments.
