Disney Genie lives at Disney World and we’ve been learning a lot about the new system.
We now know how to buy Genie + and Individual Attraction Selections reservations (pay per trip) and have even discovered how many attractions we can make in a day with the new tools. We’ve learned that Lightning Lane reservations for pay-per-travel attractions can run out at Disney World (and some, like Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, often do). But can Lightning Lane reservations also be sold out for regular Genie + attractions? Let’s find out.
Remember that Genie + is the new system for skipping the queue on most trips to Disney World. It works like FastPass, where you make a reservation for an attraction and then go on that trip during the return window. Once there, you can use the Lightning Lane (formerly called FastPass Line) to jump the line and climb the path.
Genie + costs $ 15 per ticket per day at Disney World and more than 40 attractions are classified to make Genie + reservations at the parks.
At each Disney World park, there are two attractions (usually the most popular) that are part of the pay-per-trip system. For these attractions, you will have to pay a different fee to skip the queue. We saw that reservations for these attractions can sometimes run out.
But what about all those other attractions that are part of Genie +?
In our experience, we have seen that bookings for Genie + rides can be temporarily sold out in the parks. PERUT often return with availability later in the day. So technically they can be “exhausted,” but we’ve seen that most of the attractions were refilled on the same day.
This is similar to the old FastPass system, where the file the attractions would occasionally not be available, but would return later.
So if you are hoping to book a place at Slinky Dog Dash Lightning Lane but it will look like this “Not currently offered” by day, check again to see if more return times open.
We noticed it yesterday Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run showed no available hours for Lightning Lane reservations around 3:00 PM EST.
But about an hour later, around 4 p.m. EST, it was sometimes available again.
Mostly we’ve seen this happen with the most popular Genie + attractions (like Slinky Dog Dash and Smuggler’s Run), and there are usually moments available for other Genie + attractions.
So the short answer? The availability of Lightning Lane for travel with Genie + may be temporarily exhausted, but will often be replenished with more availability later. Now, that doesn’t mean they will never run out. Remember, we haven’t experienced Genie + on weekends or busy days yet. But so far this has been our experience. We will update you if it changes or changes as we become familiar with the system and have the ability to use it in more situations.
We hope this helps you, as we all continue to learn to navigate that tricky Genie. Keep following DFB for more tips and tricks on Genie, because we’re testing pretty much everything you can do with it.
