Jolly Holiday Bakery is a fast-serving restaurant located on Main Street in the United States at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. This Mary Poppins-themed bakery offers pastries, sandwiches, an assortment of coffee drinks and some wonderful seasonal items throughout the year. Jolly Holiday has the distinction of being Disneyland’s best rated fast food restaurant with TouringPlans.com and the Unofficial Guide for Disneyland Readers. It currently has 94% inches up, surpassing its neighbor across the street, Plaza Inn by 93%. Today we’ll take a look at their menu and see if it deserves its place at the top.
If you head down Main Street towards Sleeping Beauty Castle, Jolly Holiday Bakery will be on your left, just to the left of the Adventureland entrance. This beautiful arcade is greeted with one of the famous penguins in the movie.
At Jolly Holiday there are no indoor seats, but there are two large outdoor patios. The restaurant is located in the busiest area of the park, making it difficult to find seats during dining hours. The highlight of the Jolly Holiday menu for many people is the Jolly Holiday Combo. For $ 12.49 you get a toasted cheese sandwich and a cup of tomato basil soup. This entree is a perfect comfort meal, simple but perfectly executed. The tomato soup is creamy and rich, and the toasted cheese sandwich is gloriously pasty. If you don’t want the soup, you can only get the toasted cheese sandwich for $ 8.99. The Jolly Holiday Combo is especially good on cold end-of-year nights or on a rare rainy day in Southern California.
Another highlight I need to talk about is the Matterhorn Macaroon, which is my favorite Disneyland personal gift. It’s a coconut macaroni, dipped in white chocolate and sprinkled with pastry sugar to recreate the look of the park’s famous ice-capped mountain. It is delicious as it is photogenic. It’s also cheap, priced at just $ 2.99. You can’t get over this!
Jolly Holiday receives a plethora of seasonal special items for major and minor parties, as well as any events the park promotes. They are usually of very good quality and photogenic. The picture shows the Mickey Mummy Macaron (with cookies and cream filling inside) that is available during the Halloween season. How beautiful is that?
Here you have the Roast Beef and Smoked Cheddar on Hoagie Roll. With this sandwich you get a good portion of roast beef and pickled onion and mustard aioli give it a unique flavor compared to other fast food products in the park. It’s also “only” $ 10.99, which is expensive for a real-world sandwich. But at Disneyland this makes it one of the cheapest fast service items. Still, I’m not a big fan of this sandwich because it’s mostly bread. Very chewy bread. Here you have the roasted turkey in Ciabatta. This sandwich is tasty and substantial, with generous help of sliced thick turkey and mustard aioli. At $ 10.49, it’s another decent value compared to other Disneyland fast service items.
Both roast beef sandwiches and smoked cheddar and baked turkey sandwiches are served with homemade fries. They are crunchy, salty and very satisfying.
The Jolly Holiday Salad includes mixed greens, spicy pecans, feta, tomatoes, blueberries and raspberry vinaigrette served with a parmesan bread. This is one of the best salads at Disneyland Resort. I like the mix of sweet and savory flavors and can’t beat the $ 8.49 price tag.
That’s all for the items with which you could make a meal at the Jolly Holiday pastry shop. We didn’t cover the variety of coffee drinks or other bakery products available, but you get the idea. I have to assume that Jolly Holiday is as highly valued as it is for its central location at Disneyland. Anyone walking down the main street after entering the park will no doubt see the restaurant, so more people will eat there. More than, say, the French Market in New Orleans Square, which has a much more diverse and better quality menu. Also, if you want sandwiches, Earl of Sandwich in downtown Disney is a much better and cheaper option (and is within walking distance of monorail). Take lunch out of the equation and Jolly Holiday is a great place for pastries and baked goods. So yes.
