Teaming up for a brand new animated series based on Netflix, Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix, and Legendary Television Grave Rider Video game franchise. Although the details are limited at the moment, here is what we know so far.
The first was announced in January 2021 with an anime project for Skull Island, Grave Rider A brand new animated series project coming exclusively to Netflix.
Netflix lists the project as a Japanese anime action series on its own site, described as a “road trip adventure.” The IMDb description for the project is as follows:
“The heroine follows Lara Croft as she explores new territories.”
The series will be one of several big-name video games adapted to Netflix.
As a franchise, Tomb Raider dates back to the mid-90s and is one of the largest gaming franchises in history to feature on the big screen in the form of Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider movies.
In total, there are 17 video games in the franchise that are known to have another entry along the way. The game will come to its 30th anniversary in just 5 years (still looking old?)
There have been three movies released so far based on the video game IP, including two Angelina Jolie entries, Lara Croft: Tomb Rider and The Cradle of Life. A reboot starring Alicia Vikander came in 2018 Sequel to development Will be released by Warner Bros.
The new series will launch shortly after the events of the Square Enix trilogy of games released between 2013 and 2018.
Who is involved in the Netflix Tomb Raider series?
The writing staff is led by Tasha Huo, who is currently working on three projects, including Tomb Rider, the other two being Black Belle for Millennium Films and Red Sonja where Hannah John-Kamen will star.
Legendary Television is making the series for Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix, DJ2 Entertainment and Tractor Pants as well as Netflix.
The animation studio working on the project will be the Powerhouse Animation Studio behind Netflix. Castlevania And recently signed a first-look deal with Netflix They work outside Austin, Texas.
Howard K is working as an executive producer. Bliss, Stefan Vladimir Bugaz, Dmitry M. Johnson, and Jacob Robinson.
Where is the production of Tomb Rider series?
Posting Tasha Huo in late May 2021 marks the end of writing on this project as they have completed the writing process which means it is now in the hands of animators and voice artists to bring words to life on paper. They celebrated by throwing the ax properly.

Which Tomb Rider characters will appear in the Netflix series?
Well, let’s start with the obvious. The Tomb Rider will obviously have Lara Craft.
We learned on September 13 that Lara Haley will be voiced by Atwell who is best known for her role as Peggy Carter in Captain America and her own solo series, Agent Carter.

One character that will appear in the Netflix series that we can confirm will be Zip.
Zip features both the original timeline and the Legend timeline but based on the cast list we’ve seen, it looks like the character in the Netflix series will look like the Zip seen in the Legend timeline.
Here is a summary of his character for the new series:
“Hackers and tech geeks. Craft Industries discovered the zip after entering their competitor’s database. They hired him and continue to pay him handsomely.”
To celebrate the game’s 25th anniversary in October 2021, Square Enix announced that Alan Maldonado has been cast in the role of Jeep.
