REVIEW: The new dishes show that there is no place like home (comin ‘) in Disney Springs!


Chef Art Smith’s return home en Disney Springs is a restaurant that elevates and celebrates Southern and Florida cuisine with “farm to fork” food and delicious meals!

Yesterday, we discovered some new menu items from this fan favorite restaurant, such as crocodile bites and whiskey flights. Today, we are trying some of these new dishes. Let’s dive in!

Homecomin ‘has been a favorite for a long time here on DFB. Headed by Chef Art Smith (you know, Oprah’s former private chef and famous culinary star, it’s a big deal), this restaurant has surprised us with delicious after-meal food. In the past, we have loved the restaurant Brunch Rise and Shine, their southern-inspired offerings, his Moonshine drinks, and well … almost everything. This is a “must-see Disney” site (extra points for anyone who knows the reference!).

First we got the Bootlegger Whiskey Flight with Woodford Bourbon, Woodford Rye and Woodford Barrel Select along with the sides of Spicy Pickled juice and candied pecans per $ 30! We really liked this flight and we recommend you take a second drink to go with this one if you don’t want to drink them directly – they are very strong. They were definitely meant to be drunk and savory and the pickle juice was a good palate cleanser between drinks. The Barrel Select was the best of the three drinks, with a nice softness and a lot of burning that made it the strongest of the trio.

The following is the Snail soup, that has tender snail, tomatoes and vegetables per $ 14. This one surprised us! When we saw the name of the dish, we were expecting something very salty and tasting seafood, but this looked more like a spicy gumbo with a good tomato flavor. This was a super delicious addition to the menu, especially for anyone who likes spicy stews!

There is also the Catfish sandwich, that has Crispy fried Gulf Coast catfish fillet, lettuce, tomato and remoulade sauce activated toasted Cuban bread per $ 19. We’re not always great with catfish, but we believe this sandwich could be won over by someone who hates catfish quite easily. The fish was lightly battered and had a good crunchiness and even stayed flaky and crunchy with the salad on top! Also, the chips next door were a highlight as always.

Finally, we have the new version of Grilled chicken, that has two grilled chicken breasts, sliced ​​avocado, succotash and a cup of snail soup (which we replaced with a delicious Mac & Cheese) by $ 27. This dish was so good! The chicken was extremely juicy, the avocado and succotash were a surprisingly good pairing, and it all came together for a very refreshing bite. The succotash actually has a light dressing made from olive oil, apple cider and house seasoning that adds another subtle flavor to this dish.

In a conclusion that does not surprise anyone, We loved everything we tried today at Homecomin ‘! We would definitely recommend trying any of these new dishes if you are looking for delicious southern food with a gastronomic twist!
