Over the last few months, we have seen days with very little influx in the parks and days with GREAT influx. But how is attendance right now compared to previous years? We just received a major update!
During the call, Christine McCarthy, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer of The Walt Disney Company, made several comments about park attendance levels. According to McCarthy, attendance trends continue to strengthen at Disney theme parks.
McCarthy really shared it attendance at Disney World has increased double-digit since the third quarter. McCarthy also shared that attendance is also growing at Disneyland.
Looking to the future, McCarthy shared that “The pipeline of the future remains strong. “
When it comes to international assistance, McCarthy noted that they are awaiting the return of international visitors to the US (which is now possible due to changes in travel restrictions). But McCarthy noted that they do not expect to see a significant recovery in this regard until late 2022 (or near that time).
And not only attendance seems to be increasing. According to McCarthy and Disney CEO Bob Chapek, Per capita spending on guests in parks increases by 30% compared to 2019 (also known as pre-pandemic levels).
So it seems that not only are there more guests visiting the parks, but they are also spending more. Between Genie +, new merchandise releases, new After Hours events and more, there’s certainly a lot to spend money on when you visit Disney World; and there is plenty of food, merchandise, and other experiences available at Disney theme parks around the world.
We will keep an eye out for more Disney details and news and let you know what we find.
