Music has been an integral part of the Walt Disney World experience for 50 years, and the music at Walt Disney World Resort is tied to many of my memories of “The Most Magical Place on Earth.” Just a few notes from Buddy Baker and Bob Jackman’s “Swisskapolka,” and I imagine myself exploring the jungles of Adventureland. If I close my eyes and listen to Bob Moline’s “Canada (You’re a Lifetime Journey),” I can imagine a Detail of Mounties surrounding me on CircleVision 360 at EPCOT. And since the first note of John Williams ’score for“ Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, ”I’ve been right there with Indy as he navigates treacherous ruins in search of treasure (I can’t wait for this show to return next month). it comes. )! These classics and more can be found on the official Walt Disney World playlist, now available on Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, YouTube Music and Deezer.
With the start of The World’s Most Magical Celebration, the playlist has been updated with the addition of some of the new music recently introduced to the parks, including the soundtrack to Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and the 50s.th birthday celebration anthem, “The Magic Is Calling”.
“The Magic Is Calling” was written only for the 50’sth
anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort by music composer and producer Alana Da Fonseca and composer and producer Bobby Studley of Nashville, collaborating with award-winning songwriter Emily Bear and the singing phenomenon Journi. It has a big hook that you can’t get out of your head and listening to it just makes me want to go back to the parks!
Another new addition to the playlist is “You Are the Magic,” the original song written by eight-time GRAMMY winner (and former Walt Disney World cast member) Philip Lawrence. Philip composed the song and performed it with actor and singer Kayla Alvarez for the spectacular new fireworks at Magic Kingdom Park, “Disney Enchantment.”
Perhaps best of all, you can now play the entire soundtrack to “Harmonious,” the spectacular new nightly show at EPCOT, designed by arranger Mark Hammond and Walt Disney Imagineering’s senior music producer and creative director Yaron Spiwak. . I get goosebumps when I hear the voice of “Opening Chants,” imagining the sunrise emerging from World Showcase Lagoon to begin the show, rolling straight into the multiple languages of “Awakening,” while the pavilions of World Showcase lights up and we begin our musical journey around the world. Throughout, a global ensemble of vocalists and musicians presents a concert of Disney family songs, each reinterpreted through the lens of the culture or country that originally inspired the Disney stories where they came from. The digital album even includes expanded versions of some of the songs heard on the show. It’s a musical tour de force that takes me immediately to the first time I experienced “Harmonious” in person and inspires me to see it over and over again.
