There are some attractions that make us very excited to come to Disney World.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure debuted at EPCOT on the day October 1st, and we are looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT i TRON Lightcycle Run and Magic Kingdom. The roller coaster TRON has been a fairly prominent construction in the park; it’s hard to get lost when you watch Tomorrowland! So what about this long-awaited but little-discussed mountain?
What is TRON Lightcycle Run?
Well, first what is it TRON Lightcycle Run? This nearby roller coaster is a hybrid indoor / outdoor hybrid roller coaster that arrives Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom. Is based on TRON movies and has a very futuristic vibe.
Disney has shared that the attraction will allow bikers “Experience the energy, lights and excitement of TRON’s high-tech universe” in one “exciting race across the digital frontier. “ It’s another iteration of a trip that already exists at Shanghai Disney Resort.
Passenger vehicles will be a two-wheeled Lightcycles train that you sit like a motorcycle, similar to how travel vehicles work in Flight of Passage. The roller coaster will reach speeds of up to 59 miles per hour and the travel experience will it changes from day to night depending on the lighting (it will light up VERY cool when it gets dark!).

When will it open?
Here’s the big question: WHEN will TRON Lightcycle Run open? Originally, the attraction was scheduled to open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World on October 1st. That came and went and TRON is still very much under construction. Now, however, the opening remains unknown.
With the closure of Disney World parks for several months and the shutdown of works as a result of the global health crisis, TRON Lightcycle Run has probably occurred with delays and may not open in 2021. Disney has not yet announced an updated timeline.

What’s the latest with construction?
We may not know an opening schedule, but WE CAN check the latest construction works! We have been closely monitoring the progress of this attraction which can be seen from various areas of Magic Kingdom and neighboring hotels, perhaps more clearly from Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.
Bye now, the outer casing of the promenade building has been built, although we are not sure of the progress within. The MOST visible project is the exterior canopy. This MASSIUM illuminated canopy surrounds the outside of the track and will create a VERY unique lighting effect on the roller coaster.
We have observed the recent removal of the building supports from the canopy framing and the onset of blue wraps being added to the structure.

Outwardly it doesn’t look like there’s too much left to do in TRON, but appearances can be deceiving. Now we are just waiting for a Disney opening announcement! We will be very attentive to the build and will be looking for more news about TRON Lightcycle Run, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates!
