FIRST ROUND: Disney’s Josh D’Amaro takes a look at lightsaber training in Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

In the midst of all the excitement and curiosity surrounding the next Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser at the Walt Disney World Resort, there’s one thing I look forward to most: lightsaber training.

When this first holiday experience begins to welcome guests aboard the Halcyon starcruiser on March 1, 2022, they will finally know what it’s like to feel the Force and wield a lightsaber while facing a training remote control, similar to Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: A New Hope. It is one of the many immersive activities that make up this two-night adventure where you will see, feel and live Star Wars.

This morning at Destination D23, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products President Josh D’Amaro gave us a look at this long-awaited moment aboard the starcruiser. We take our first step into a bigger world and watch Josh test his skills with a lightsaber.

Oh wait … was there more? Yes, Josh also stopped at the Star Cruise Bridge, where Disney imaginer Sara Thacher taught him to defend the ship with trusted blaster guns. Guests will also learn these skills during their adventure … which can be helpful if something unexpected happens. But no, everything always goes as planned in that very, very distant galaxy, right?

This is just a taste of what is to come Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, so keep checking us out here on the Disney parks block as we go running around March 1st as if we were going at the speed of light. Earlier this week, for example, we revealed some of the new characters you can meet on board. You can also visit www.starwarsgalacticstarcruiser.com for more details and sign up to receive regular updates.

So until next time, just remember … the Force will be with you, always.
