Get your mixtape ready and get ready for something fantastic … because it’s about to save time for the galaxy!
This morning at Destination D23, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products President Josh D’Amaro has revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open in the summer of 2022 at EPCOT as part of the Walt Disney World Resort 50 .th Birthday celebration. This exciting new roller coaster for families coincides with the “greatness” and fun of the hugely successful “Guardians of the Galaxy” movies in what will be one of the longest fully enclosed mountains in the world.
Josh made this exciting announcement with a little help from a friend … watch the video below to hear Glenn Close Academy nominee, who for our attraction will reprise his role as “Guardians of the Galaxy” as Nova Prime, the leader of Xandar. and commander of the New Corps.
You’ll see Nova Prime in Wonders of Xandar’s new “other world” pavilion at EPCOT, which Xandarians are currently building in the park’s newly renamed World Discovery neighborhood. Here you will learn more about the Xandarians and their advanced technologies, which are bringing us here on Earth, or Earth, as they call our planet.
Josh has shared these new performances this morning at the Xandar Gallery, which is where you’ll find out more about the Xandar people, culture and history, including their heroes like … the Guardians of the Galaxy! Everything is fine until they appear, of course, and the adventure takes place in an intergalactic chase through time and space.
Here is a teaser image of the attraction, also presented this morning by Josh. There’s a lot to unpack here, so let’s take a closer look:
- First, we have these adorable cosmic misfits exploding right in front of us: Rocket (look at that mischievous smile on his face … he always has a plan, right?), Groot, Gamora, Drax and Star-Lord brandishing his beloved player of cassettes. .
- Passing in front of the Guardians, there are guests aboard the new innovative vehicles of this roller coaster, which do not look like anything else in the galaxy.
- Just below Gamora is the Star-Lord ship. If there are Guardians, it’s a good bet they’re on board.
- And speaking of ships, I’ll draw your attention to the Starblasters at the top left. These ships of the New Corps are coming out of a jumping point, the Xandarian method for crossing great distances from space in a few moments. Who knows what’s on the other side?
- I’m Groot.
So that’s what we need to share today … and it’s a lot! We’ll be covering all things Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind here on the Disney Parks blog as we prepare for its debut next summer during our 18-month celebration at Walt Disney World Resort 50.th Birthday that started on October 1st.
