Two members of the Disneyland Paris cast recognized for creatively meeting a community need during the pandemic

Throughout our search for 50 Disney Magic Makers, we have shared inspiring stories of individuals whose sincere acts of kindness and generosity, large and small, do magic for their communities.

As a cast member, I am impressed by my co-stars, the original Magic Makers, who make a difference by lending their time and talent to help our communities wherever they are needed. Even during the most difficult times, cast members from around the world take a stand and say, “I can help.”

Today, I am excited to introduce you to the members of the Disneyland Paris cast and the Magic Makers, Cyril and Olivier. During the early days of the blockade, they realized that their community desperately needed PPE and they knew they could help.

After seeing the need for first-hand PPE while offering to support hospital staff in the Seine-et-Marne area, Cyril, an occupational physician at Disneyland Paris, wanted to create face shields for hospital staff. . But I couldn’t do it alone. Fortunately, he knew who to call: his colleague Olivier, senior director of technical entertainment production at the resort.

Olivier immediately set to work. He purchased 3D models of the necessary masks, mocked prototypes in his garage, and began 3D printing. From early April 2020 to mid-June, Cyril and Olivier produced more than 500 face shields that were distributed to medical staff at local hospitals and clinics and community school teachers.

Although the project lasted weeks of hard work, Cyril and Olivier will never forget the impact they had.

“When I delivered facial protectors to a clinic in our community, the doctor started crying,” Olivier shared. “At the time, I understood how an idea can make a difference and unite a community.”

Cyril and Olivier have been recognized as the Magic Makers of the cast for their good deeds. But they are not alone: cast members around the world have performed similar acts of compassion and courage year after year. Through food and product donations, volunteer work, and skills-based support for local nonprofits, our global delivery is connected on a human and sincere level.

Altogether, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products has donated more than 1.4 million face masks since March 2020 to communities in need around the world. Disneyland Paris has donated more than € 10 million in food, medical supplies and Disney-branded products to non-profit organizations, hospitals and local and national partners.

We are grateful to our cast and community partners who continue to come together to help make a difference. With a little magic we were able to offer support to our communities around the world.
