Earlier this year we shared updates from around the world on the selection of new Disney ambassadors. After two weeks of hybrid interactions, Disney’s ambassador global training is over. Teams participated in media training, content creation workshops, company overview, presentation exercises and more.
The dedication of the new teams was evident from the first day of training, with all ambassadors meeting through time zones in Zoom format. For starters, the ambassadors received reviews from The Walt Disney Company, a behind-the-scenes look at Walt Disney Imagineering’s upcoming projects and time with resort leaders to make sure they can represent their resorts and distribute effectively. Each ambassador introduced himself to the group, sharing what made their places and teams unique.
“One of the most memorable moments was when Kanoa shared the history of Hawaiian culture and the ‘Aulani values.’ It made us all cry,” shared Shanghai Disney Resort ambassador Phoebe Jiang. While there was a lot of work to do, there was also time for laughter, tears of happiness and even a virtual escape room.
The following week, the teams made their way to the Walt Disney World Resort to implement their training with a series of face-to-face workshops and activities. The team even had the opportunity to join former Walt Disney Ambassador alumni for breakfast, representing terms from the 1990s to the present, listening to experiences in the coveted role. For Disneyland Paris ambassador Carmen Lleo Badal, just being with all the members of the Walt Disney World cast was inspiring. “Each and every member of the cast with whom we spoke, greeted or shared moments, made a difference in our week and made us feel the magic. I am so grateful for all of them.”
And there were many cast members to meet. Those who helped lead workshops, business leaders and resorts who were dedicated to sharing our first-hand vision and all the individuals in between. “I learned that grace allows us to make mistakes and learn from them,” shared Disneyland Resort Ambassador Mark King. “Being truly ourselves is how we can create a connection with our cast on a larger scale by working together.”
We culminated the last week of training by greeting the cast and fans at Destination D23. Throughout the weekend, the global team offered curiosities and presented speakers. For Walt Disney World ambassador Raevon Redding, he was the highlight of the training, “We were all backstage at Destination D23 singing ‘You Are the Magic’. Together. It was at that moment that I learned that these would be my people for the rest of my life!
The training weeks were over, but the passion and drive to share casting stories didn’t. When all of our Disney ambassadors return home, they are excited about what’s to come. “What I pulled out the most this week was optimism,” Disneyland Ambassador Nataly Guzman shared. “With the hardships that everyone around the world has suffered recently, it was amazing to see a strong desire to keep wonder and magic alive.”
“What I most look forward to is collaborating globally,” Disneyland Paris Ambassador Quentin Rodirigues commented. “We have the opportunity to highlight the passion of our cast members around the world. Together we can inspire people with their diverse stories.”
Walt Disney World Ambassador Ali Manion shared Quentin’s sentiment: “Each place offers something special, but we came together on how we work together around the world to recognize our cast and share their stories. I won five Ambassa brothers and six Ambassa sisters for the last two weeks, and I know I can always count on my ambassador family to be by my side, whatever happens!
