PHOTOS AND VIDEOS: The procession by candlelight returns to the EPCOT Festival Festival!

The holiday season is in full swing at Disney World, and although last year it slowed down a bit due to the global health crisis, this year, many fun holiday activities and entertainment are back!

Hi Santa!

One of our favorite things is back at the EPCOT Festival this year: the Processional by candlelight. I we take you with us to the FIRST ONE from 2019 – let’s take a look!

The Candlelight Processional is a story of the Christmas story in the American Adventure Pavilion at EPCOT. That features a famous narrator, along with a live choir and orchestra. It’s one of the most popular holiday traditions at Disney World, and for good reason.

Processional by candlelight

Before the first show of the night, there was quite a queue at World Showcase! When it comes to the processional, There are two options for entering the show: standby and guaranteed seats with select dining packages.

The waiting line for the show!

Processional dining packages by candlelight (available at Rose & Crown Dining Room, Biergarten, Garden Grill and Coral Reef) were a little harder to get than usual this year, but there were also two new first-come, first-served packages that were available today at Regal Eagle and Spice Road Table.

All of these packages include a guaranteed meal and seats at Candlelight Processional. But you can also opt for the waiting line if you prefer a free option; just keep in mind that the line can be formed pretty soon outside the theater, so you’ll want to get there soon.

After finding our seats in the show, the orchestra began playing their first pieces. We had our eyes a little foggy, mostly because this was the first procession to Candelight in two years.

Shortly afterwards, the choir began its procession on stage. Disney has previously stated that this year’s candlelight procession will not host choirs from different groups and schools in the community as they have done in years past. So, this year’s choir is made up entirely of Cast Members.

The celebrity narrator who told the Christmas story on the first night of the Processional was Auli’i Cravalho, the voice of Moana! Other famous narrators this year include Jodi Benson, Alton Fitzgerald White, Lisa Ling, Steven Curtis Chapman, Blair Underwood, Chita Rivera and Pat Sajak.

And, at the end of the show, there was a standing ovation, which has been deserved after a beautiful performance by the choir, orchestra and narrator!

We were very excited to see the return of Candlelight Processional, and if you have plans to be at Disney World during that time, we recommend that you take the time to see it during your day at EPCOT. And we’ll continue to cover your Disney World vacation, so stay tuned for more coverage!
