UPDATE: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has reopened since we first reported on this story. We will continue to monitor waiting times and let you know if there are any more changes.
Occasionally, guests may need to be evacuated from a trip for a variety of reasons, most commonly due to a trip malfunction and a temporary downtime.
However, we are learning of a more urgent evacuation that took place this afternoon at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
News 6 journalist and producer Landon McReynolds shared on Twitter that guests had to be evacuated from Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster after smoke was detected in the building. No fire was reported and no one was injured. When we spoke to the cast members, they told us that the trip had been closed for the last few hours “due to technical difficulties”.

According to McReynolds, the trip is currently in the process of reopening, although a cast member parked at the entrance to the trip told us that there is no estimated time for this to happen. They hoped the trip would reopen sometime today, but there was no further information on whether this would happen. The last time we checked out My Disney Experience, guests with Genie + were still able to book Lightning Lane reservations for tonight.
