Minnie ears, board games, toys, needles and more: there is a LOT of Disney merchandise.
A great shopping place that has many of these collectibles is the Emporium in Magic Kingdom. As a flagship store of Magic Kingdom, you will find lots of items in the Emporium, and sometimes you can also find many lines! If you want to get some fun Disney items from the Emporium WITHOUT having to wait in a long queue, there is something you need to know.
In different parks shops and resorts, Disney has tried Payment for mobile goods during the last few months. With this system, you can use the My Disney Experience app to scan the items you want to buy in the store, complete the purchase through your phone, and then easily and quickly get the items you want without having to wait in a long payline. !
We have seen that the system is being tested in places like Creations Shop, but today it has reached another big Disney World store …the Emporium in the Magic Kingdom!
There were several signs throughout the store indicating that the mobile merchandise purchase system is already available there.
Basically, here’s how the system works; neither do you scan the QR code or open your My Disney Experience app and select “Shop in Store – Now Trying”.
Then select the Emporium.
Then you can grab one Disney transparent plastic bag (you’ll find them near some of the mobile payment signs) and start shopping!
Once you decide what to buy, scan the items you want to buy, complete the purchase, and pay through the app. You will then get a QR code in the app for your purchase. (Professional Tip: Take an instant screenshot of this QR code in case you have trouble getting it later.)
You will then take your phone with the QR code and your items to a designated mobile merchandise payment area.
From what we saw, there were approximately 5 stands in total throughout the store, although that could change.
Once there, you’ll show the Cast Member your QR code, check the items, and then be on your way. Quick and easy!
If you feel comfortable using your phone to make these purchases, this could be a quick and easy way to get these Disney items and skip the long pay queues!
Of course, this system is only “on trial,” so be sure to check to see if it’s available during your visit or if anything has changed.
