Today could be the “best day in history” because December 3, 2021 has been declared “World Walt Disney Day” in Central Florida, the community we’ve proudly called home for over 50 years. years.
We started the celebration today at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida with the leaders of Walt Disney World Resort and an official proclamation from the Mayor of Orlando, Buddy Dyer, and the Mayor of Orange County, Jerry Demings. Of course, the morning would not have been complete without Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse attending the event dressed in their best EARidescent.
Our Central Florida family and the many nonprofits that support the community have played such an important role since the Walt Disney World Resort first opened in 1971, which is why we couldn’t imagine celebrate Walt Disney World Day nowhere more than in Second Harvest. Food Bank: An organization driven to close the gap on unmet needs in Central Florida and a recent $ 500,000 Disney grant recipient in honor of our 50th birthday celebration.
Today, Disney VoluntEARS is proud to join the celebration at the Second Harvest Food Bank with some hands-on help, sorting and packing food boxes to distribute to those who need it most.
While there are many individuals and organizations who have made this day possible and who have contributed to the success of the Walt Disney World Resort over the past 50 years, we would like to give a very special shout out to our cast members who keep the dream of Walt Disney and live magic every day. Thank you for the inspiration and dedication you give to all who visit The Most Magical Place on Earth; this day is for you because YOU are the magic.
