We have been following all construction updates from Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Wish!
And we have to say that the hype is REAL after seeing details about all the shows that will arrive on the ship, the Star Wars-Theme Hyperspace Lounge, the roller coaster on board and the only thing that ALWAYS excites us: FOOD! And today, we have another new build update, this time on the boat cabins!
Disney has outlined the process it took to design the ship’s cabins, saying so it starts with collaboration when designers and artists spend YEARS considering every detail, down to the light, the color and the shapes that are seen in the rooms. As with theme parks, Disney Imagineers are figuring out all the details, big and small. How to look at this beautiful Cinderella-themed head!
After the team makes hundreds of models of the rooms to make sure everything is fine, most cabinet parts are built off-site. Once the design is approved, each of the 1,254 booths is placed on an assembly line, where each piece of furniture, artwork, lighting, and so on. is installed on a conveyor belt. Let’s talk about efficiency!
Once all the rooms are together, they travel to the place of the ship and get up with the CRANE on the boat. And this is what it looks like:
“The booths are the perfect combination of what Imagineering does best: art and technical perfection,” wrote Disney wrClaire Weiss, Walt Disney Imagineering on the Disney Parks blog. “It’s a priority that every aspect of our design is both narratively beautiful and highly functional to give you the best experience! All we do is think about our guests.”
And guests will finally be able to see those cabins and the rest of the Disney Wish, when it first comes out in the summer of 2022. And we’ll keep covering everything about the Wish, so stay tuned!
