What’s the point of going to Disneyland when it rains?

The advantage is that you will spend less time queuing at many Disneyland Resort attractions. Not all, but most. One recent rainy day we observed Matterhorn Bobsleds waiting 5 to 25 minutes, while the day before (perfect weather) waiting 20 to 40 minutes. You’ll wait even less if you arrive early (at the park opening) or if you’re late (until the park closes) and take walks when the crowds are lower.

Routes that are done completely outdoors, or with large outdoor stretches, often have very low waiting times when it rains. It turns out that not many people want to get on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad when it rains, but if you’re properly prepared with a raincoat or poncho, you’ll be fine.

For fast service, Alien Pizza Planet in Tomorrowland, Bengal Barbecue in Adventureland, Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, The Golden Horseshoe in Frontierland, Plaza Inn in Main Street, USA and Red Rose Taverne in Fantasyland. some interior seats. “Some” is the keyword here. Most of the seats in these restaurants will still be outside and the tables inside will be hit with people trying to stay dry. Eat meals early or late to be more likely to find a covered table. Blue Bayou Restaurant is the only Disneyland restaurant that is fully seated with indoor seating.

Most restaurants will remain open in the rain, but some outdoor vans (for churros, popcorn, pretzels, etc.) will remain closed all day if there is little traffic.

Over the years, I’ve had a lot of great visits to Disneyland on rainy days. Also, the park looks beautiful with any kind of weather. You’ll have a great time if you’re well-prepared for the rain, so don’t let a little moisture prevent you from visiting the happiest place on Earth.
