2021 Theme Park Festivus Celebration – TouringPlans.com Blog

Ah, the winter holidays. A time to get together, celebrate the year and be with family. But what are the traditions if not the happy accidents we repeat over and over again? In the spirit of one of the greatest sitcoms of all time, TouringPlans offers a Festivus celebration at the theme park.

So welcome to our house, please take off your shoes and throw the coats in the bedroom. Make sure you don’t drop the three dozen grand piano Christmas postcards … okay, all of us, gather around the aluminum pole and start the festivities!

Food is an important part of any trip to the theme park or Festivus holiday. In 2021 he offered us several new dining options from new attractions, backward restaurants, festivals and major celebrations that I have carefully selected in a meal just for us. Now, go to the dining room as our first courses are about to be served.

Oh, wait! Before you head over to our new open-plan kitchen (Clayton applied for it, is an amazing planning expert and got a promotion at Berkshire Hathaway), be sure to grab a glass of IPA Cloud Island! This amazing IPA was developed for the opening of the Jurassic World VelociCoaster, which the young Taggart has just excited about! Isla Nublar is brewed by Carib Brewery in Cape Canaveral, FL, and features notes of oranges and grapefruit.

Our first course is the Galatic Lobster Globe from Space 220, which is served in this wonderful glass bowl. Wait … the bowl is stuck … I’ll talk to Kleylah about the proper planting. Now, where was I … oh yeah. This is a version of a Maine lobster salad with avocado, quinoa, mango, lettuce, wontons, citrus dressing and of course lobster! We found that this dish stood out among the offerings for our first meal at Space 220.

The gastronomic surprise of the year was the closing of The Wave and its replacement by Steakhouse 71, a modern version of a vintage steakhouse from the 70’s. The real winner of the new menu is the Steakhouse 71 Stack Burger, which is without definitely the best burger at Disney World. This smash burger comes with chips or salad.

We haven’t forgotten you, Auden! Here’s your vegetarian Wellington vegetable dish! This version of a Christmas meat classic is made with roasted mushrooms and artichokes wrapped in puff pastry and accompanied by Brussels sprouts. Our review said that this was one of the highlights and the best vegetarian option on the Disney property.

Over the years, Universal has been improving its gastronomic game with new restaurants at CityWalk, theme parks and new food festivals. This year’s return of Halloween Horror Nights included several dozen new food offerings, including this amazingly themed cherry pie. Located in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre BBQ Store, this cherry pie recreates Leatherface’s iconic human skin mask as a pastry on top of a cherry pie. A little splash of cherry juice completes the excitement.

Sinead! Tanner! Please clarify the dishes, adults we have a few things to discuss.

Christmas, both religious and secular, is well represented in theme parks. The parks have Christmas trees, Santa Claus appears everywhere and the EPCOT even has a story of the birth of Christ with celebrities and singers. But many festivals and traditions still do not see any representation in the parks. Hannaukka, Kawanza, pagan activities, even Festivus, would be welcome additions. Disney has made some on the road with EPCOT and Universal unveiled its own holiday character, Earl the Squirrel, but we want them to go further. We don’t ask for less Christmas but more for everything else. As the holiday season expands with more activities, we would like to see more decorations, events, merchandise and more celebrating the world around us.

Note: TouringPlans sells custom travel plans, crowded calendars, and projected waiting times among many other tools. Some of our products are in direct competition with Genie and Genie +.

That said, Genie has been a mess. From confusing options, a hasty deployment, meaningless suggestions, even complete service interruptions, Genie has let all Disney fans scratch their heads. The service is designed as a premium, but is priced low enough that for most people it becomes a must. Also, individual Lightning Lane purchases simply feel dirty, with Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland costing more than the hourly pay of Disney Cast members.

COVID-19 launched a key in all kinds of plans, from Universal’s Epic Universe to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. Several plans under development were sunk, such as the EPCOT Festival pavilion. Many other projects continued in the hope that the parks would reopen soon.

But as 2020 progressed to 2021, we saw several major, unfinished projects that had never been opened. Remey’s Ratatoullie Adventure was delivered to operations in the spring of 2021 just to keep the trip empty until September. SeaWorld Orlando’s Ice Breaker and Busch Gardens Tampa’s Iron Gwazi, originally scheduled for spring 2020, have not yet opened and are now scheduled to open in 2022.

We understand that the pandemic changed a lot of plans, but for parks with reduced capacity where a new attraction could allow more guests to enter, why didn’t it open? And as guests have become nervous this fall about travel, why not open up your new mountains?

Universal kept the metal pedal and opened Jurassic World VelociCoaster this summer and was rewarded with a lot of attention and praise.

Strength feats

The feats of force are the last tradition observed in the celebration of Festivus, celebrated immediately afterwards (or in the case of “The strike”, during) the Festius dinner. The head of the family selects a person to celebrate Festivus and challenges him to a wrestling match. Tradition says that Festivus is not finished until the head of the household is fixed. – Wikipedia

I’ll let you know that Declan is simply the best of his wrestling team, which reached the state finals, you know. This family knows the real competition, it’s not right Becky?

We’re excited to be back at Halloween Horror Nights for its 30th year, so we all wanted to make the most of every night. But HHN nights usually end at 1 or 2 in the morning, meaning guests go through queues and haunted houses for more than 7 hours a night! Going from 6 to 2 in the morning is a real feat of strength (and endurance).

The 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World on October 1, 2021 can be summed up in two events: 1) the mobile order system completely crashes and 2) people fighting for merchandise. Guests lined up for hours to enter the Main Street Emporium to buy limited-edition merchandise only to end up punching Starbucks cups. Of course, don’t tell them that the same merchandise was widely available at the resort and online for weeks afterwards.

Festivus Miracles

It’s been fun tonight, isn’t it? Thanks for coming out after receiving your booster shot, I know it was a long year for all of us. While Schuyler brings you the coats, let’s take a sip of a good espresso and talk about last year’s miracles.

Fantastic! opened at Disney Hollywood Studios in 1998, when it was still called Disney-MGM Studios. Both fans and critics praised the combination of actors, animation, fountains, fireworks and special effects to bring Mickey’s imagination to life. Then the show sat, for decades, unchanged. The Disneyland version saw several major updates, including the addition of the amazing new AA dragon.

At this year’s D23, Disney announced that there are new segments and changes FINALLY come to the show. The awkward, long segment of Pochahontas is already out and there are new segments based on recent Disney animated films. We can’t wait for this program to return with these additions in 2022.

So far, the 50th Walt Disney World has been a bag mixed with some good and some good. One thing that has received universal praise and admiration is the light beacons on the Earth spacecraft. Unveiled spectacularly for the first time during the Harmonious live stream, these lights not only shine, but turn the geodesic sphere into a great work of art. Each point is controlled independently, which means that the sphere can show rainbows of complex colors or patterns. While we’ve been critical of Disney in this article (for constructive fun, hopefully), we think this is one of the best things they’ve done this year.

Thanks for coming! It was lovely, please drive safely and send us a text message when you get home! I look forward to seeing you in 2022, Kadin would have to return from his studies abroad in Monaco and he was so sad that he had to miss it. Don’t forget to get back on top of your weekend plans, except for you Becky.
