Stephen Twining, the tenth-generation member of the famous tea family who serves as Twinings' corporate relations director.

And last but not least, I had the honor of chatting with Stephen Twining, the tenth generation member of the famous tea family who serves as Twinings’ director of corporate relations. He shared updates on his favorite Tea Caddy products, what he recommends to a first-time tea drinker, and how one of his ancestors shared a cup of tea with a very important man in history!

What do you think Disney Parks guests would be surprised to learn about Twinings?
I think it would surprise the guests to know that one of the fourth generation members of the Twinings family met General / President Washington and his wife and was lucky enough to have tea with both of them at home!

There are many reasons why people love tea: from the soothing effects to the extra energy boost, to the shared moments while drinking it. What is your favorite thing about tea?
For me, tea is a very sociable drink and I love to have a cup or a cup of tea with family and friends. Somehow having a cup of tea is very relaxing and a good conversation always flows.

What has it been like collaborating with Walt Disney World Resort over the various EPCOT festivals?
It is always a pleasure to visit any Disney site, be it a resort or one of the parks, and in particular, EPCOT. I really enjoy interacting with guests, many of whom are interested in tea, and I look forward to telling them one or two things to add to their knowledge.

What is your favorite product currently available at Tea Caddy?
Where to start! I’m a big fan of Discovery teas, only available on Epcot. These large leaf teas are in a larger tea bag, which means you’ll experience a more subtle and delicate cup of tea. My favorites are Tippy Golden English Breakfast and Exotic Mango and Ginger Green Tea. Another item I love is Cold Infuse, which is great when you’re away from home because it easily falls into a water bottle. I’m also excited about the novelties of delicious super blends; they taste good and have enhanced benefits with special ingredients that support your energy, sleep, heart and immunity. Finally, I’m a big believer in different teas at different times of the day, so getting one of the really lovely one-slot tea chests and filling it with your choice of ten different tea bags should be on the go. my list!

Which Twinings products do you recommend to the first tea drinkers?
I think I would ask the guest what flavors they like, and then I would recommend an herbal or fruit herbal tea, which I call infusions, as they contain nothing from the tea plant. This way I can combine the guest with something that he will enjoy with the added benefit of not having caffeine naturally.

Do you have a favorite mix?
While this is your shortest question, it is also the longest! I like different teas at different times of the day, starting with English or Irish breakfast, followed by Ceylon Orange Pekoe, Darjeeling, before I get to lunch when it has to be Earl or Lady Gray for me. The choice of the afternoon is very much influenced by the weather. So as I talk to you on this cold English afternoon, my thoughts are on a Chai Latte as it is very easy to prepare and is a wonderful warming drink with the rich texture of frothy milk as well as lovely spices for warm up from the inside out. Later this afternoon, we will have a refreshing green tea and then enjoy a mint or mint butter after dinner tonight. The last two are part of our range of infusions – they are naturally caffeine free and so I will sleep well!

Now I want to know, what is your favorite mix? (For those of you wondering, my lemon and ginger with a generous spoonful of honey!) Leave your favorite mix in the comments, along with a photo where you enjoy the chocolate and mint smoothie with Twinings Peppermint Cheer Tea, either at home or while visiting the EPCOT International Festival Festival presented by AdventHealth. Health!
