If you’ve been to EPCOT lately, you’ve probably noticed some building walls.
That’s because the massive EPCOT transformation it’s still up and running! Part of this transformation becomes the central section of Future World World Celebration. We have already experienced the new Design shop i Club Cool, but what else does this area contain?
Well, we’ve recently spotted a few building permits that could indicate what’s next for this central EPCOT area. Could we see some kind of show here in the future? May be!
The first permission we saw was “Manufacture and install elements of the show set” at the old Innoventions building that now houses Creations Shop and Club Cool. Permission is from a contractor named Icarus Exhibits who has done theme work for Walt Disney Imagineering in the past.
An accompanying permit for the same place requested “Lighting Hardware Installation” of InterAmerica Stage Inc., another contractor that Disney regularly uses.
Basically, Disney World Imagineers are installing lights and elements for something, but what could it be? Disney has not announced any specific shows or attractions in or around the Creations Shop building.
The new facilities may be for a specific show or attraction or may be just a general setting for World Celebration. After all, shows used to take place very often at the Fountain of Nations in the same area.
The permit also does not specify whether the fixed elements are for the interior or exterior of the building. Another possibility is to thematize the exterior of the building and a light system that goes with the lighting of the Earth spacecraft.
Regardless, we are VERY excited to see a global celebration completed and to know what the stage and lights are for. As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney World updates!
