Could the train to Disney World cost less than $ 8 each way?

A big part of planning your Disney World trip is the transportation that will take you to hotels, parks, and anywhere else you need to go.

Disney World Bus

If you do not drive (and stay at a Disney World hotel), you can use the free Disney transportation in the form of monorails, skyliner, buses and ferries. But if you go to Orlando, you still have to go from the airport to your hotel. Disney discontinued its Magical Express service, which used to transport guests from the airport directly to their hotel. One option for its replacement is the next train that will connect the airport with Disney World. but how much will this option cost?

The Magical Express service was a free advantage given to guests staying at Disney World hotels. You should book your seat on the bus, but there is no extra charge for using the buses.

Replacements for this service (a bus ride from Orlando International Airport to your Disney hotel) include Mears Connect and Sunshine Flyer, both of which will cost extra.

If you are looking for alternatives, consider a shared trip, a taxi, or perhaps a high-speed train that takes you directly from the airport to Disney Springs.

Brightline is a railroad company that already has trains and routes in Florida. His trains currently travel to Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. They have begun work on a new line that travels from these areas to Orlando International Airport.

From here, Brightline plans to build a line from the airport to Disney World, with the Disney World stop probably in the Disney Springs area. So when can we expect to see this line open to guests?

What’s going on with the train now?

As expected with the latest world events and the nature of major construction projects, the Brightline train at Disney World has been delayed several times.

Brightline train construction

We originally expected to see the line with Orlando International Airport open in 2022, with the line at Disney World from the airport opening in 2023. That timeline has changed, and now we look forward to connecting West Palm Beach at Orlando Airport will end in 2023 and the airport line at Disney World could open until 2026.

We have seen some small updates on the construction process, such as one of the trains that will serve this route that will be delivered to the area last fall.

But for at least the next few years, you’ll have to make alternative plans to go from the airport to Disney World. And once the train opens, how much will it cost guests to assemble it?

How much do regular Brightline tickets cost?

Note: These prices are based on specific dates. We used January 11, 2022 for this example, but prices may vary depending on when you travel.

Now you can get tickets from Miami to Fort Lauderdale (a 36 mile journey) for as cheap as $ 17 each way. The round trip would cost $ 34. For a premium service, you will pay $ 27 per trip, with a round trip of $ 54. With standard service, each mile costs about $ 0.47. (This is not an official policy; we just got that number by dividing the cost by $ 17 per mile to $ 36).

The route from Miami to Orlando International Airport will cost approximately $ 100 in every sense, which means what this journey is all about $ 0.42 per mile.

We will average these numbers to get an estimate how much the train could cost to carry passengers from Orlando International Airport to Disney World.

How much would it cost to get to Disney World?

The Brightline stop at Disney World is scheduled to be somewhere in the Disney Springs area.

It is about 17 miles from the airport to Disney Springs.

Disney Springs

If we average the cost per mile of other Brightline train tickets, we can assume that a ticket costs about $ 0.45 per mile. By that logic, the cost of a ticket from the airport to Disney Springs should be approximately $ 7.65 each way.

Disney Springs

This is already much cheaper than a shared trip or even the Mears Connect service, which are currently the other transportation options for this route. (Shared travel is typically between $ 30 and $ 60 for this trip, and the Mears Connect service is currently $ 32 for a round trip).

Mears Bus transportation to Swan and Dolphin

This is just an estimate based on other Brightline train tickets. Disney may be working with Brightline to make this service free for Disney World guests, as was Magical Express. But it is also possible that the high demand for this route will drive up prices and make travel more expensive. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens when the train approaches its opening date.
