3 popular attractions, a park and more will be closed at Disney World this week

If you’re planning to go to Disney World this week, there are a few closures you’ll want to know!

Magical Kingdom

Disney plans renovations for certain attractions, shops, and resorts throughout the year to do routine tweaking or maintenance. And this week there are seven (!!) places closures scheduled between From January 10 to 16, 2022 – let’s take a look!

Reform of the Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World Railroad

It’s been more than three years since the Walt Disney World Railroad took guests to the iconic loop around the Magic Kingdom, and the closing will continue next week.

Part of the train tracks are currently being blocked by the construction of TRON: Lightcycle Run in Tomorrowland, so it may be some time before this favorite fan attraction returns to work. No reopening date has been announced at this time.

Mountain Splash

Another popular Magic Kingdom attraction will be on the makeover list this week! Splash Mountain will be closed from January 10 to February 10, 2022 for routine maintenance, so guests will have to give up a water trip during the month.

Please note that this closure is not related to the previously announced transformation of Splash Mountain into The Princess and the Frogthemed trip, as it will take place at a later date and will probably involve a longer closing.

EPCOT reforms


Your trip to the World Showcase at EPCOT will not look the same yet, as the small shop, Souk-Al-Maghreb, will be closed this week at the Morocco Pavilion.

Souk-Al-Maghreb Closed

The store has been closed for many months and is not expected to reopen until February 6, 2022 according to the Disney World calendar.

Reform of Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Everest Expedition

Last week marked the beginning of the long-term closure of the Everest Expedition – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and will continue throughout this week.

The Everest Expedition is CLOSED

Disney has not shared many details about what updates they are making to the trip, but it is currently expected to reopen in mid-April 2022. We look forward to an official date!

Renovation of the Disney World water park

Disney’s Blizzard Beach

Those who want to spend a day cooling off in the water will have to resort to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon (which has recently reopened) because Disney’s Blizzard Beach is closed for refurbishment.

Melt Away Bay to Blizzard Beach

The water park closed for the first time since March 2021 last week and Disney has not shared a timeline for when it could reopen.

Disney Resorts

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

At Disney World Resort Hotels, please note that the Flippin ‘Fins Pool (located on the Little mermaid section of the hotel) will be closed to guests staying at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.

Flippin ‘Pool Up to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

The pool is currently undergoing renovations from early January 2022 to the end of February 2022, but both the Big Blue and Cozy Cone pools remain open.

Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge

In addition, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village’s Samawati Springs Pool is also closed this week for refurbishment.

The closure is expected to last until April 2022, but guests can still take a break from the sun at Uzima Springs Pool in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House In the meantime.
