It’s never a boring week at Disney World!
We learned about it this week mysterious patents, big travel queue changes, and there were even some an electrical outage! We go straight into everything unexpected news from Disney World this week.
Queue for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opened at EPCOT on October 1, 2021 and has since used one virtual queuing system. This allowed guests to take a seat in the virtual queue or pay to skip the queue by selecting individual attractions (also known as pay per trip). As a result, there was no waiting line.
But now, that is changing. How to January 10, 2022, guests will be able to enter a normal queue for the trip, which means there is no more virtual queue. Otherwise, you can still pay to skip the line.
Disney has just announced the end of the virtual queue for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
Dok-Ondar is gone
This week we visited Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities at Disney’s Hollywood Studios just to find it. the store’s namesake was missing! It’s not uncommon for animatronics to disappear from Disney World from time to time, but it was unexpected to find a red curtain around the usual place of Dok.
Dok-Ondar’s is home to all kinds of Star Wars souvenirs, such as gowns, kyber crystals and even lightsabers! You can still buy even though the “owner” of the store seems to be “out of town” at the moment.

New ornament: after Christmas
Apparently, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort didn’t get the note that Christmas is over, but again, we buy year-round ornaments! The new Ornament of the Polynesian people debuted this week by $ 29.99 at the BouTiki gift shop.
On one side is the entrance to the Polynesian Resort, while on the other side you can see the tropical Mickey and Minnie and the iconic Tiki statue from the lobby. It’s behind the counter, then you have to ask a cast member to buy it!

Light cut in the Magic Kingdom
This week there has been one a power outage one night at the Magic Kingdom and some nearby Disney World hotels, including parts of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The outage occurred around 6 p.m. and was resolved by 10 p.m..
The disruption also affected some transportation options, such as the monorail and ferries. We learned from readers that the buses were pretty full!

New Disney patent
We also learned a patent recently filed by Disney Enterprises, which hints at a project that involves virtual effects and virtual reality. In other words, Disney may be working on a system of projection and / or virtual reality maps that can project images onto objects.
The patent also includes descriptions of what could be a handheld device, which they define as a “projection device”. We’ll have to wait and see what this will be like!
