DISNEY

Happy, asleep or moody? This Disney cast member made a fool of himself last weekend!

The only special thing about running for Magic Kingdom is doing it with your dad by your side. For Steve, a cast member of Walt Disney World, running has been a part of his life since he remembered and shared the weekend of the 2022 Walt Disney World Marathon during the world’s most magical celebration with his family. be a dream come true.

A manager of synergies for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Steve frequented the Disneyland Resort as a child and dreamed of working for Disney one day. What was once a dream has now become a passion to pave the way for future magic makers. “I’ve had countless amazing experiences, made lifelong friends, and met amazing leaders and mentors,” Steve said.

One of the most special things about being a member of the cast is sharing the magic with family and friends. In 2019, Steve and his father participated in their first Dopey Challenge together. Both avid runners, even being coached by the same coach in high school, completed all four courses (5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon) during the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. After 48.6 miles of pure magic, they got hooked and what started out as an item on the cube list became a tradition.

But the family fun didn’t stop there! That same year, Steve participated in 5K with his mother, father, and brother. While it could have been the shortest distance of the race weekend, the race topped a very long list of Steve’s favorite memories. “My favorite memory is crossing the 5km finish, hand in hand, with my family in 2019! This 5K was my first runDisney race and we did it as a family. The whole family enjoyed the animation and of the characters along the way and as they approached the finish line they decided to tie their arms and cross.

This year, Steve and his father returned to run their third Dopey Challenge. While they now go at their own pace and don’t always run the whole route together, knowing that they both enjoy the same 48.6 miles is truly magical.

What makes the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend so special? “What sets runDisney apart from other races is the fun memories and experiences you have along the way. I love getting to know the weird characters, watching parade floats and capturing that sweaty image outside Cinderella Castle! No one could have done it at a better time than during the most magical celebration in the world. and his father to share.

What’s next for Steve and his father? Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho, they’re leaving to train. Nothing stops them and they continue to train and look forward to next year’s Dopey Challenge.
